Volterra Farm was established in 1985 by Nicholas and Pamela Volpone in the heart of Chester County horse country outside the small historic Village of Marshallton, Pennsylvania.  They have bred, shown, and sold quality Dutch Warmbloods, Warmblood Crosses and Thoroughbreds for top level showing or racing for years.  They give great attention to the quality and movement of their horses as well as raising healthy, well mannered young horses.

The current fieldstone farmhouse was constructed in the 1920's by the Ashby family.  It was constructed using stone, beams and other wood from three existing 18th century houses located by the current springhouse.  Other major additions and renovations were undertaken in 2006 to expand the home but keeping within the style of the original building.  The Ashby's stood three stallions on the farm, one of which was moderately famous and buried on the property.  The property was purchased by Frank Strawbridge in the 1950's and used as a summer and foxhunting seasonal home for the next twenty some years.

In addition to their farm, Nicholas and Pamela also have a small "horse oriented" antique business located in nearby Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania:
